BackPupil Voice Conference Brings Together Young Leaders for a Sustainable Future
Broxbourne Council Offices played host to an inspiring gathering as 80 young leaders from the four schools within the Generations Multi Academy Trust came together for the inaugural ‘Generations Unite’ Pupil Voice Conference. Students from Goffs Academy, Goffs-Churchgate, Andrews Lane, and Flamstead End Primary School, ranging in age from 7 to 17, collaborated on a shared vision for a more sustainable future.
The event, organised by Sarah Baker, Headteacher of Flamstead End Primary School, aimed to foster unity, encourage dialogue, and empower students to make meaningful changes within their school communities. Through interactive sessions, the pupils shared insights into their individual schools, learned about each other's unique cultures, and discovered common goals.
One of the highlights of the day was the hands-on creative workshop, where students used recycled materials to construct sculptures that symbolised their collective learning and aspirations. The activity reinforced the theme of sustainability and demonstrated the power of teamwork across different age groups.
Nancy, a participating student, reflected on the experience, saying, “I liked the experience of coming together as one and seeing how diverse everyone was and how we can all work together. My takeaway is that no schools are the same, but we can all do the same things to make schools a better place to be.”
The event concluded with the formulation of a collaborative action plan, outlining tangible steps each school could take to promote sustainability. The conference was a resounding success, highlighting the potential of student leadership and reinforcing the importance of unity in achieving a common goal.
As the Generations Multi Academy Trust continues to prioritise pupil voice, ‘Generations Unite’ marks the beginning of an exciting journey toward stronger collaboration and a greener future for all schools involved.
